Top Bible verses on Salvation

Salvation is a lifetime process

Salvation is a free gift from God. His Salvation saves us and keeps us from harm. It encompasses a process that sanctifies and changes us so that ultimately we become more like Jesus. He sets us apart and makes us holy. If God isn't changing us, then we need to reassess if we are truly saved. The process starts the day we are saved and ends when we are taken home.

Salvation - starts the day we are saved and ends when we leave this mortal coil. It encompasses the process that God uses to save and sanctify us. Salvation is thought of by some as being the whole Bible from the beginning, the plan of redemption for mankind.

Being saved - is the first step in our salvation. We pray to God from a genuine heart to be saved. He hears our prayer and our journey with Jesus as a born again Christian, a new creature in Christ begins.

We are justified - God declares us righteous when we are saved. Jesus's righteousness is imputed to us because of our belief in Him and the sacrifice that He made to take away our sin. We are reconciled to God.

Discipleship - is an ongoing part of the process. It requires a Christian's response to the promptings of God's Holy Spirit by obeying His teachings, renewing our minds, taking our thoughts captive, praying, reading, meditating and studying His Word. It requires our participation so that our faith strengthens and we grow closer to our Heavenly Father.

Sanctification - God sanctifies us, sets us apart to make us holy. He may do this by orchestrating or allowing trials, test, sometimes tribulations in our life. It is a part of discipleship and growth. We can't be made holy if we refuse to listen His voice. We can't truly love Him if we aren't willing to sacrifice and obey His teachings.

God Himself draws us to Salvation;

John 6:44 - No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Acts 13:48 - When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believers.

2 Timothy 1:9 - Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 - But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 7:9-11 - yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.

Romans 8:30 - And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Jesus is the only way to Salvation

John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12 - And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

John 3:36 - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

1 John 5:11-12 - And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Acts 10:43 - To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

John 17:3 - And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Romans 4:25 - Who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

Asking to be saved in prayer

Romans 10:9 - Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Acts 16:31 - And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:9-10 - Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Romans 10:13 - For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Luke 13:3 - No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Acts 3:19 - Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

We are justified through our faith in Jesus the moment we are saved

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 - Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Romans 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

Romans 5:9 - Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

Galatians 2:16 - Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Our part to play in discipleship and sanctification - obeying God's teachings and commands

Discipleship

Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Luke 14:27 - Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

Luke 9:23 - And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

John 8:31-32 - So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Ephesians 4:11-17 - And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

John 15:16 - You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

John 15:8 - By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

John 14:15 - “If you love me, obey my commandments.

John 15:1-4 - “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

Sanctification

John 17:17 - Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 - But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

Philippians 2:12-13 - Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

1 Peter 1:15 - But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

2 Corinthians 7:1 - Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

Romans 6:1-23 - What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his

1 John 3:9 - No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.

James 4:8 - Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
